Finally Steroids News I'm Interested in

ESPN is reporting that John Rocker claims that MLB not only knew he used steroids. They assisted him in doing so.

For starters we are talking about John Rocker. I love a guy who speaks his mind, however that would require a mind which is not something I am sure this guy is in possesion of. After his comments in 19999 saying he would never play for a New York team because he didn't want to ride a subway train "next to some queer with AIDS." He also dropped this gem in 2005 as he was attempting a comeback "I've taken a lot of crap from a lot of people. Probably more than anybody in the history of this sport. I know Hank [Aaron] and Jackie [Robinson] took a good deal of crap, but I guarantee it wasn't for six years. I just keep thinking: How much more am I supposed to take?"

Yeah forgive me if after those brilliant statements I don't flip out over any news coming out of Rocker's mouth. I mean I would love to hear that this is true. Anything that would shine a light on the evil that is Bud Selig, is good in my book.

The basic gist of what Rocker said was the fact that in testing that ironically stemmed from a suspension he drew as a result of those intelligent statements from 1999. The league discovered he was using HGH. The players union and league doctors then instructed him and several Rangers teammates on how to use steroids more effectively.

The biggest John Rocker moment in all this though is when he gave his opinion on Commissioner Bud Selig. "Bud Selig is a clown and should do the world a favor and Kill himself. " While I definately agree with the first half of that statement the secodn half seems just a bit much.

What do you think of this

As some of you may know, I hope to someday make this blog a full time gig. I am sure half of you reading are thinking that you feel the same way. I came across someone else who is of the same mind and is using blogsvertise to do so.

While it seems simple enough follow the simple rules that they have laid out. I don't plan to just whore out my blog, I mean I wouldn't read a blog that was pure avertising but I hope to strike a balance between providing the good content I have thron into past posts while adding in relevant content through blogsvertise that just happens to pay me as well as help you.

What I want to know though is what do you the reader think about this. Provided I don't just punish you with a blogvertise post everyother post. Would you be turned off by a post that you know pays me, purely because it does.

Tennessee Titans Offseason

The Tennesee Titans 2008 Offseason will be full of action. Some of this action started when Vince Young ordered found out about the firing of Norm Chow. Chow was replaced by Mike Heimerdinger. This might turn out to be better fit since he is a run first type of coordinator and Vince Young can't pass...

While the Titans have spent several picks lately on Wide Receivers, they have yet to see much production from those picks. Since Vince Young is clearly running this franchise, there is a large chance they go with Limas Sweed(WR-UT) from the same Texas alma mater as Vince Young. Outside of making Merrill Hoge's personal whipping boy comfortable, Sweed is a very talented receiver. The biggest upside to him is that much like Young he is a winner, even if the stats don't always bear out his greatness. He definately rises to the big occasion. The question really is can the Titans get to a big occasion.

Another possible area of focus for the Titans will be the Defensive End spot. While they are surely going to franchise tag Albert Haynesworth. That is only a one year fix, and with the money that will be required by that tag, they are likely to be short on money when comes to resigning the other free agent on the line, Atwan Odom. Several teams have already shown an interest, so he is likely gone. I will be interested to see how he performs wherever he ends up without a guy like Haynesworth pulling attention away from him.

In an effort to address this need on the line they may look to Calais Campbell(DE-Miami) while Campbell didn't have the production expected of him this year he is a monster at 6'8" 280. He would almost certainly draw a double team if he can show any kind of skill. Between that and the attention Haynesworth draws. The two of them could team up to be a dominant force on the line while freeing up some of the other memebers of the Titans front seven.

One of the intereesting things to watch for this season will be the security that Jeff Fisher has enjoyed. He is the longest tenured coach in the league and without much improvement in recent years. You have to wonder when tha seat starts to get a little hot. The other ongoing saga will be is Vince Young a viable quarterback in this league. Despite some of my joking earlier in this post I think he is. I'll take a winner over a guy who throws a good ball.

The All-Star Game is a Real Honor, Right?

On the heels of the least important of all of the All-Star games, the NFL's Pro-Bowl. I was just dying reading about the feeling Rasheed Wallace expressed upon receiving news he would have the "honor" of being selected to this years All-Star game in New Orleans.

"It's something that's good for my kids," he said, in almost somber tones. "I guess once I get older and get out of the game, this is something they can look back on."
Wallace had campaigned hard to not be selected, preferring the four days off instead. He already had made plans to spend the four-day break some place a lot more tropical than New Orleans.

Check out this nugget from that same article

How soon they forget. The names of Primoz Brezec and Walter Herrmann were misspelled on the Bobcats greaseboard before the game. Both were members of the team until Dec. 14.
